A friend and I did Hawaii earlier this summer. Brandon’s dad has a timeshare in Kona on the west side of the Big Island, so we used that as base camp and adventured out, circumnavigating the island in search of the best time we could find. We found it. Then I wrote about it for Active Junky, which helped pay for my flight. After several months I began to wonder when I would see my words and photos online, then they appeared on Active Junky’s Facebook page.
If you’re planning a Hawaiian vacation any time soon, this could help. But be advised, if your idea of vacation is lounging poolside with a cocktail in hand and spending big bucks to eat out or follow a guide on some super touristy day trip, this probably won’t help much. It’s more directed at the active traveler seeking a more affordable time. And it’s an example of my short-and-sweet writing style, a style not found as often on my personal blog but one preferred by online publishers focused on written content since the world of the world wide web has such a limited attention span.
