Opening Day of Downhill Mountain Biking @ CBMR

The chairs started turning this weekend for mountain bikers at Crested Butte, and I believe the overall consensus was “awesome!” The trails were in great condition, which came as a surprise to some riders, since most of the mountain was covered in snow only a few weeks ago. I travelled by foot today, on a reconnaissance mission to pinpoint good vantage points for the future. I had a few locations in mind when I began, from what I could remember of the day spent riding here last year, but only had a little over an hour to kill before work so I wasn’t able to cover much ground. Here are a few shots from today, but anticipate much more to come soon, now that the mountain is open and the shelves have been restocked with Gnar bars for the summer.
