On Saturday, April 2, Cold Smoke Splitboards and Colorado Freeskier hosted a fundraiser for Protect Our Winters at Crested Butte Mountain Resort. Participants raised $5.40 for each lap (uphill and back down) they completed on Buckley Hill, under the Westwall Lift. Splitboards and climbing skins were provided by Cold Smoke for those with enough heart (and energy) to trek uphill in the sun, and refreshments and applause awaited their return at the base. Total funds raised from completed laps exceeded $200, plus more from raffle tickets. I stopped by to check out the action and snag some photos, and was even talked into taking a lap myself. A warm thank you goes out to Cold Smoke and Colorado Freeskier for being such sweethearts, and advocating for a cause we should all appreciate.

Cold Smoke Splitboards operates out of Gunnison, Colorado. They use environmentally-friendly tactics to provide snowboarders with backcountry access at the most affordable prices.
